Maborite has the same composition as Mabor Magnesia Cupels. Its main advantages are:

  • Prevents Cupels from sticking to Trays & Hearths 
  • Stops Litharge / Flux attack: increase refractory life
  • Noxious PbO vapour emissions are notably reduced

When cupellation is completed, and the precious metal buttons are cool, they need to be removed from the cupel with Assay Pliers and cleaned. 

To clean them, simply squeeze the buttons with the assay pliers and brush their undersides carefully with a brush to remove any adhering cupel material. We have two different brushes to achieve this. One with a replaceable glass fiber mine, and a reducable brush made of horse hair.

POLISHED HAMMER AND POLISHED ANVIL FOR BEAD FLATTENING
According to ISO11426, after cupellation it is necessary to flatten the bead with a polished hammer and polished anvil before laminating it. . This is necessary to maximise the surace of the bead and to do a proper parting process.
If the bead is not flattened and laminated , there is the risk  that some silver remains secluded into the gold, and therefore the parting process with boiling nitric acid would not be 100% effective.

LEAD FOIL PACKING PLIERS
